Personally, I've practiced Old man for years, but I still feel like I cannot dance and express it freely. However, it is incredibly cool elements. I hope you can grasp them. Soooooo, let's start with some basics!

  • Baisc

Poppin' Pete did a great tutorial to create a sense of being an "old man". We can start from here.

You can create a sense of OLD Man easier when you trys to maintain a stretched position in your legs, neck, and back,. And here's the key idea: when twisting your body, never let your neck and back form a perfect perpendicular line. This crucial technique is brilliantly demonstrated in this captivating tutorial!

  • Tips:

  • Relax your shoulders and neck. You do not need to pop them when embodying the Old Man; simply keep them relaxed and stretch them as naturally as possible.

  • Pop your legs, hands, and arms. Without popping in your legs, the movement may resemble that of a puppet rather than a drunken old man.

  • Keep your legs straight when stepping out. This subtle change will greatly enhance the quality of movement.

  • Variations and combinations:

Pay close attention to how Nelson adds pops and seamlessly integrates the Old Man style with the music. (Reallyc cool battle for sure)

  • Suggestion for practice:

Since I've practiced this movement for a while, I'd like to add a suggestion here. Don't rush to perform it quickly. While this element may look impressive when executed at a fast pace, the quality of the movement actually diminishes when you speed up too soon after learning it. Train with some slow lo-fi beat music to ensure you grasp the moving sequence, then gradually increase the speed.
